These are less sweet and with a more complex chocolate flavor than any store-bought chocolate chip cookies I’ve had. I’m so fond of these I try not to make them too often. ; )
Ingredients
1 cup + 2 tablespoons all purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
5/8 cup packed brown sugar
1 egg
2 teaspoons real vanilla extract
1 cup (about 1 1/2 bars) 85% dark chocolate, chopped
3/4 cup chopped filberts, pecans, or other nuts (optional)
Directions
Preheat oven to 375.
Bowl 1: Mix together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
Bowl 2: Mix together the butter, sugar, egg, and vanilla.
Stir the wet ingredients of Bowl 2 into the dry ingredients of Bowl 1. When fully combined, this will be a stiff, sticky mixture.
Stir in the chocolate chunks and nuts.
Line two cookie sheets with parchment paper. Distribute the dough on the sheets using a rounded tablespoon quantity for each cookie. Makes about 18 cookies.
Bake both sheets at once for 9 minutes.
