Modern Mission

We remodeled this bathroom in an old home that wasn’t “born” with any distinguishing historical style, but the clients wanted to give it some. Namely, a mission-flavored look with a full compliment of modern luxuries. Over the years we eventually ended up remodeling their whole home, but this slideshow focuses on the bathroom.

Project Elements

The shower has a lot going on. It has a curb-less entry, which means we needed to re-frame that area of the floor to allow for the pitch to the linear drain. The clients requested a large secondary ceiling showerhead with multiple functions. A jumbo shampoo niche is built into the half wall to keep shower supplies handy but not on display. We used lots of red oak in support of the Mission look: Windows, casing, cabinets, etc. The highly vein-y green granite has brown elements that tie into the bronze Hubbardton Forge towel hardware, mirror, and lights. Our clients are often interested in eliminating clutter, and to that end we installed electrical outlets inside the tall cabinet for charging toothbrushes, shavers, etc. The LED toekick lighting is switched independently, providing a nice indirect night light.

Our Approach

Each project we do is formed around that family’s project goals. We can suggest solutions to meet a range of design and budget goals.
