Family Gathering Home

Over the years we remodeled the bathroom, kitchen and laundry in this home. The designs were inspired by the client’s time spent living and teaching art in Japan. We embraced asymmetry, natural materials such as wood and stone, and a strong connection with the outdoors, as with the large window in the tub alcove.

Project Elements

The recessed medicine cabinet offers a sleek way to add handy storage for small objects, and electrical outlet(s) can be installed inside for charging toothbrushes, razors, etc. The kitchen was designed with a half-wall divider between the kitchen and the adjacent entry door. This way, guests can arrive and set things down on the bar counter without being greeted first-thing by any possible kitchen dishes, pans, etc. We built a computer desk into the edge of the kitchen, with the CPU hidden in the adjacent base cabinet. We installed discreet USB-powered fans in the edge of the cabinet to keep the CPU cool.

Our Approach

Each project we do is formed around that family’s project goals. We can suggest solutions to meet a range of design and budget goals.
