Soapstone Toque

We remodeled this kitchen for serious home cooking. The homeowners had long admired soapstone, so we helped the find a beautiful vein-y slab for the counters. The kitchen is laid out to efficiently accommodate elaborate meal preparations, with a slide-out butcher block next to the range and a large pantry tucked to the side of the kitchen.

Project Elements

We worked with the existing hexagonal decorative ceiling soffit, which constrained the layout of the island and associated vent hood, but adds an interesting element. The counter-to-ceiling chocolate travertine backsplash tile added a nice aesthetic upgrade to the space.
