Big Impact Small Home

This is a small home (around 800 SF upstairs, plus a hard-working basement) that we remodeled to feel luxurious and take advantage of the best view in its urban location: Up. We added six skylights and turned a flat ceiling into a cathedral vault, which required some extensive re-framing of the roof.

Project Elements

Some interesting features in the kitchen include lift-up doors on the upper cabinets. This keeps the cabinet doors completely out of the way while the contents are being accessed. The dishwasher has a cabinet door front so it blends in seamlessly with the base cabinets. This can be a nice design element in small kitchens because it keeps the cabinet runs from being chopped up visually, creating a more expansive feel. We treated the fronts of the under-counter 2-drawer refrigerator the same way. The bathroom functions are split between two rooms; a powder room and shower room. This allows two people to make use of the fixtures at the same time, in privacy.

Our Approach

Each project we do is formed around that family’s project goals. We can suggest solutions to meet a range of design and budget goals.
