Honey Hemlock
Before we remodeled it, this bathroom had a fluorescent light dropped soffit over the vanity. Inside, was an unusual (and load-bearing) roof member penetrating the ceiling. Given the options, the clients decided to go with the route of drywall-wrapping it and embracing the old-house character. The spacious shower shown here started out as an unused jetted tub, complete with a shag carpet tub deck.
Project Elements
The clients wanted more natural light in the space so we installed a tempered privacy window and we fully waterproofed the opening, similar to a recessed shower niche. The vanity includes a pull-out drawer to make the under-sink storage space more easily accessible.
