Baltic Spring
The style of this whole-house remodel was influenced by the time the clients spent living in Northern Europe. This remodel was completed in phases and eventually encompassed the whole house, including an addition housing a mudroom. Numerous structural and layout changes were made to the house to increase openness and locate functions more conveniently.
Project Elements
The design of the kitchen is dominated by a curved peninsula of base cabinets. The curve eases the circulation path out to the deck, without impinging on the adjacent small breakfast nook/ sunroom. This curve was echoed in the master bath with a curving corner-alcove soaking tub, which minimizes the amount of water needed to take a deep bath and maximizes the spacious feeling of the bathroom. The clients wanted a minimalist, overcast set of finishes and colors, but occasional yellow accent walls add some northern sun.
